Celebrating Excellence in Sports: School Awards Ceremony 2024

The school's 2024 sports award ceremony, held on May 2nd, celebrated student athletes' achievements in various sports. Mr. Indika Amarasekara, Director of Sports, Health, Physical Education, and Social Sciences, honored the event as the chief guest. The ceremony recognized outstanding performances and teamwork, emphasizing sportsmanship and personal development. It highlighted the importance of dedication and passion in fostering a spirit of excellence among students.

Drug Prevention Program - 2026

Udupila Weera Vijayaba Maha Vidyalaya successfully organized a Drug Prevention Program on 24th March 2026 with the aim of educating students and raising awareness about the harmful effects of drug use.

As part of the program, students presented a meaningful and thought-provoking drama that highlighted the dangers of drug addiction and its impact on individuals, families, and society. The performance effectively conveyed a strong message about making responsible life choices and resisting negative influences.

In addition to the drama, a walk was organized around the school area, with the participation of students and teachers. This walk served as a public awareness campaign, spreading the message of drug prevention to the local community and encouraging a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

The program was a great success, demonstrating the commitment of the school to nurturing responsible and informed students while contributing positively to society.

Clean Sri Lanka 2025: A Success at Our School!

Udupila Weera Vijayaba Maha Vidyalaya recently held the "Clean Sri Lanka 2025" programme. The event kicked off with a creative drama performed by our students to raise awareness about avoiding drugs.

The enthusiasm continued as students and teachers joined forces to clean the entire school premises. A special effort was made to eliminate mosquito breeding spots, ensuring a safer environment for everyone. We are proud of our students for their dedication to the school and the nation!

All island - Region Senior Solo Violinist (North Indian Ragadhari) 1st Place

That's fantastic news! Winning first place in the All Island - Region Senior Solo Violinist competition is a remarkable achievement, especially for Pasindu Babasara, who is still in grade 11. It must be a proud moment for Pasindu, his family, and his teachers. Such recognition at a young age shows great talent and dedication. 

Empowering Prefects: Leadership and Skills Development Program

On May 16th, 2024, our school hosted a special leadership and skills development program for our prefects, aimed at nurturing their abilities and fostering teamwork. The highlight of the event was a memorable bonfire function held in the evening, creating a warm and inspiring atmosphere.

The success of this program was greatly supported by the Ceylon Outdoor Adventure Club, whose contributions ensured the program's effectiveness and impact. The prefects engaged in various activities designed to enhance their leadership skills, communication abilities, and problem-solving techniques.

Throughout the day, students participated enthusiastically, learning valuable lessons that will serve them well in their roles as school leaders. The bonfire function provided a relaxed setting for reflection and camaraderie, reinforcing the bonds within our prefect team.

Overall, the leadership and skills development program was a resounding success, thanks to the collaborative efforts of our school community and the support of Ceylon Outdoor Adventure Club. It was a meaningful experience that empowered our prefects and prepared them for their responsibilities ahead.

School Trip Adventures: Kandy and Galle Excursions

Students from grades 6 to 9 embarked on an exciting journey to Kandy, while those in grades 10 to 13 explored the beautiful city of Galle on March 28th, 2024. It was a day filled with fun, learning, and exploration as students enjoyed exploring new places and making memories with friends.
